When Basic Invite reached out to me, it was perfect timing! We had just finished an in-home family photo session with our photographer Meg Robinson and ordering Christmas cards to send out to our family this year was on my mind. Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is in many ways my favorite holiday. No one expects gifts. There’s no pressure to spend money. We get to spend time with our family and indulge a delicious meal together which is something we don’t get to do all the time. It felt a little strange to be traveling on Thanksgiving day instead of taking part in our normal traditions this year. The past few years as a married couple we’ve woken up to take a walk together (and with the dogs) then cooked a big breakfast and turned on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and the dog shows.

Planning our Christmas Vacation to Chicago

This year for Christmas, Alex and I are treating ourselves to a short vacation in Chicago, Illinois. I haven’t been on a true vacation since our honeymoon (aside from a weekend trip here and there to the beach) and I’m longing for a bit of a break from work to get out and explore something new. I went to Chicago after the summer of my eighth grade year but haven’t been back since. Alex has never been. We’ve planned a few must-sees like the Art Institute of Chicago and the Shedd Aquarium but we’re going to play things by ear and open to suggestions for the best pizza, hot dogs, tacos, and coffee downtown.
