Breezy Like Monday Morning

We were able to squeeze in a quick trip to the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art to view their newest exhibit entitled "Do or Die: Effect, Ritual, Resistance". Fahamu Pecou's works explore life, death, culture, and violence in a contemporary context of black life. His drawings, paintings, and videos were so powerful. I can't relate to some of the things my peers feel but his works, especially the short film Emmett Still helped me understand a little better what it means to be black in America right now. Do or Die is a must-see if you're in Charleston before October 8.
