One Year at The Bakery

Buying a home was probably one of the scariest and most adult decisions we've ever made together! It's hard to believe that we've already owned our little house for a year. It's the longest we've ever lived in one place since we've been married. While there are definitely days where I wonder what the heck we were thinking and question how we've probably managed to break more things than we've fixed up, I'm really glad we have a little place to call our own and that we don't have to pack any more boxes for a while. That scares me at the same time because I don't want to feel like we are "stuck" here. Sometimes it truly is just hard to be happy with where you are!

We have big plans for our porch and backyard (pictured here) but for now I'm just happy that the final frost has come and gone and we can grow our own food this Spring! It can get pretty frustrating when we aren't able to start home projects as soon as we want to. We've started a priority list of things we want to save up to fix. First on our list is a new back door with a doggie door so that we don't have to keep the door wide open all the time. I think our power bill will thank us. Next steps will be getting in more sod, adding planter beds, and expanding the deck!

Overall, I'm really proud of the work we've put into making our house feel like a home over the past year. I'm excited to see how things change to fit our style over time.
