Tuesday Tunes - January 24, 2017
There are a few times of day when you can typically find me listening to music:
1. When I'm alone at the office (or the silence is killing me).
2. When I'm home alone cooking dinner.
3. When I'm reading.
Because I tend to listen to music when I am trying to focus on tasks, the music I listen to tends to be more mellow and ambient with simple rhythms and hooks, and repetitive choruses. I hope you enjoy this week's Tuesday Tunes Spotify playlist! What is your favorite type of music to listen to when you're getting work done?
In honor of the upcoming Brian Wilson concert, I thought I’d put together a little playlist of some of my favorite Beach Boys songs and other songs by related artists from the 60s. There’s something about the music from that era that always puts me in a good mood.
This was meant to be a Valentine’s Day playlist but I’m a couple of weeks late and it turns out that a lot of the songs on this playlist aren’t all that lovey-dovey after all. Here are just a few songs I’ve been listening to as of late. I’ve been a bit fixated on some of the same artists so I’d love to hear what you’ve been listening to and discover some new artists to add to my rotation! I’m looking forward to Spring and Summer, as they always seem to bring more upbeat music that echoes the warmth of the season.
I couldn’t decide if I actually wanted to post this round-up of my favorite songs of 2017 or if the time had passed and it was just too late. I decided to go ahead since I’ve put so much thought into curating this playlist of my favorite songs from the past year and keep delaying hitting the publish button. So here’s my first post of 2018.
I’ll be the first to admit that the 70° weather has me feeling a bit more like the Grinch than one of Santa’s little helpers but putting on a bit of festive music in the evenings has been improving my mood tremendously! This year I have felt like each holiday has crept up on me without really being able to enjoy the preparation and anticipation so I’m determined to make the Christmas season different!
We're getting ready to go on vacation in a couple of weeks time so I wanted to curate a playlist that would be easy to listen to on the plane or while we have downtime in the late evenings. I've been listening to a lot of modern jazz music lately so it's interspersed throughout this playlist to break things up a bit.
I'm excited to share my October Spotify playlist with you all today! The temperatures are finally starting to cool down (at least in the mornings and evenings). While I start to switch up my wardrobe for Fall, I also switch up my music. Fall is a time for all things cozy and warm so I wanted to make a playlist that mimicked the way the season feels. This playlist is full of songs that are atmospheric and cinematic, romantic and soulful, piano-driven and a bit more downtempo than my Summer playlists. It's also heavily inspired by the film Baby Driver.
Summer is winding down and we've been experiencing milder temperatures as Fall makes its way to the South. Gone are the 100°+ days and fingers crossed that the wind and mid-80s temps become the new normal. I can hardly believe it's September already. In fact, I'm pretty sure I originally named this playlist "August 2017" on Spotify. Time has really slipped away from me lately.
We stayed up way too late Sunday night watching the Lollapalooza live stream and dancing around the living room with the puppies. Hearing the new Arcade Fire song "Everything Now" makes me bust out my Disco dance moves every time. Silly as it may seem, it was honestly the most fun I've had just hanging out at home this summer!
