Thursday night the Halsey Gallery was open a little later than usual so we went to see their current exhibit featuring works by Jumaadi and Picasso. Last week we went to hear Dr. Johnson talk about Picasso’s Diurnes but the gallery space was so packed that we couldn’t see the works up close. We also saw a puppet show by Jumaadi and a local puppeteer before getting to view his works. It was interesting to view the artwork with a bit of background instead of going in with an open mind like we usually do. I think these two exhibits pair well together. Their shapes, textures, and colors are harmonious when presented side-by-side. I would encourage you to visit the Halsey for yourself and experience the works of Jumaadi and Picasso with the help of his friends Villers and Prevert.
