We've been playing around with different meal planning subscription boxes over the past year and decided to take our online shopping to the next level by ordering some items in bulk from Jet.com. I had been seeing a lot of ads / sponsored posts on my Pinterest feed about the service and decided on a whim to order our cat food, dog food, toilet paper, oats and flossers in bulk from the online site. The more items you buy, the more you save. You also receive discounts for using your debit card and refusing return service. I wish I had done a little more research before jumping in because after placing our order I found quite a few negative reviews online that made me extremely nervous.
Our box actually arrived late (It came on Monday instead of Friday. I'm assuming this was due to the snow so I will cut them a break this one time.) and I had to run to the store to grab a small bag of dog food to make it through the weekend. I was extremely disappointed in the amount of excess packaging. The Dog food was shipped with smaller items like the flossers and oats so our box was stuffed full of craft paper so that those things did not get crushed by the 32 lb. bag of food. I'm actually really surprised that nothing came damaged. We are so bad about breaking down boxes so they sat in our house for over a week like that. It took two whole blue recycling bags to hold the amount of craft paper that was sent with the boxes. Overall, it just seemed very environmentally unfriendly and not worth the few extra dollars in savings.
I'm not 100% sure if I would order from Jet.com again but if I do, I'll be sure to order similarly sized items like books and magazines or tin foil and plastic wrap.
