Alex had to work on Christmas Eve this year so Rooney and I spent the day with my mom and sister. We had brunch at Cracker Barrel and Rooney was an angel all day long! When Alex finally got off he joined us for Christmas Eve snacks around the fireplace and we all watched Elf together before opening our stockings and gifts.

Christmas morning was a quiet one. I cooked breakfast and we watched Miracle on 34th Street together as our little family of three. We didn’t get Rooney much this year but I think she liked the few little toys I got for her stocking. By lunchtime we were ready to head over to my Mother-in-Law’s house to spend the day with all Rooney’s cousins. She was teething so badly and didn’t enjoy her time very much but we did manage to squeeze in a nice walk in between meltdowns. We had a delicious Christmas dinner before rushing home to put Rooney to bed so she could finally get some rest for the night.

I wish we had longer than just a couple of days together but it was still a Christmas I’ll never forget.
