Resurrection Fern is one of Alex’s favorite plants. It’s an air plant that lives under the shady oak trees of the cistern yard. When the fern needs water it will curl under its fronds to survive. With just a little bit of water it unfolds, turns green, and comes back to life. Hence the name Resurrection Fern.

It also happens to be the name of a pretty great song by Iron and Wine which we love.

And we’ll undress beside the ashes of the fire / Our tender bellies are wound around in baling wire / All the more a pair of underwater pearls / Than the oak tree and its resurrection fern
