Today during lunch it was too cold to walk around so we stopped by the Halsey Gallery at the College of Charleston to see Patricia Boinest Potter’s exhibition titled Patterns of Place before the exhibit closes on Saturday. We tried to go to the opening but they’re just too busy to enjoy anymore. I still can’t say with 100% confidence that I understand the meaning of her pieces but the video produced by the Halsey did a good job giving some insight. I really enjoyed the intricate details of her pieces, the mix of natural and man-made elements, and the way the light bounced off of each component. I think these miniatures mimicked the way things occur when the natural meets manufactured in the environment around us. You can read more about Potter’s works and watch the film on the gallery website here: http://halsey.cofc.edu/exhibitions/patricia-boinest-potter/
