My first trip to Whole Foods.
I can’t believe we’ve never been before and I’m not sure why we haven’t. I absolutely loved the fresh veggie selection. It was huge! They had beautiful, colorful produce and flowers right when we walked in and it was hard not to want everything. We settled on a little pico de gallo and a pear and pomegranate salsa that made the perfect spicy yet sweet topping on our couscous Sunday night.
We were really in search of breakfast and lunch foods. I got some vegan yogurts made from soy with fresh berries from the produce section and a cranberry vanilla granola from their bulk section. We may have to go back with our pop top containers next time we are low on rice or couscous. They let you weigh your own container then give a discount at the end for not wasting a plastic bag! It’s a pretty neat incentive that’s also convenient since we’d be transferring our dry foods into those containers anyways!
We picked out a few packaged Indian meals, zucchini and corn cakes, pre-made Chinese chicken, and fries from the freezer section. Sometimes I don’t feel like cooking and it’s just so much easier to pop those things in the oven or microwave around lunch time.
I was so impressed by their salad and hot foods bar! It was full of delicious items. It’s so hard for me not to buy everything sometimes. I have to remind myself that everything we buy has to somehow fit into a meal! I did pick out hot cucumbers for a snack.
I would definitely go to Whole Foods again but it’s not the most budget friendly. I’d recommend it for anything you need to fit a specialty diet or for people who are conscious of eating only organic. They had really great labels on all of their products so you know what you’re getting with them.
