Home, Sweet Home

I have to admit that sometimes I get anxious to finish up a roll of film. Instead of waiting for the perfect shot I'll try to take a few throw away photos just to be able to start fresh with a new roll. Sometimes I feel like I'm approaching my film photography all wrong. Who says each roll has to be specific to an event or location? Half the surprise of having film developed is seeing what actually comes out and experiencing the memories of moments you've already forgotten.

While I took these shots in a hurry and they don't seem all that special now, I know that someday these simple images of the first home we ever owned together will mean so much. We won't live here forever and I know one day we will find ourselves reminiscing about how young the dogs were, how bad our lawn looked, and why our one lawn ornament was an ax.

In case you're not following me on Instagram, I shared these words the other day as an ode to our home, sweet home:

Maybe it's this gorgeous, cool, purely autumnal weather we've been having the past couple of days, but seasons and change have been on my mind today. It's so easy to feel like everyday life isn't exciting enough. We've got friends moving across the country, friends moving back to the US, friends starting new jobs, friends going back to school for the first time in a while, and friends becoming new parents. There's something to be said about embracing each season we're faced with...whether it's a season of change or in our case, a season of familiarity that's a bit more static. Somehow I feel like we are right where we are supposed to be for the time being and I'm trying to soak it all in instead of being anxious for the next season of our lives. My heart feels incredibly full that we get to celebrate so many of life's milestones with our friends right now. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you. I can't wait to see what this Fall has in store for us all. So this is me being committed to this season of my life, recognizing its purpose, and remaining flexible at the same time!
