The Greek Festival is one of my favorite events and lucky for us it happens twice a year— typically in May and October at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Augusta, Georgia. I mean, who can resist a good gyro? This year we went on Thursday night for dinner and then again on Friday for lunch. I had the gyro and feta fries. We shared an order of spanikopita as a little appetizer and had a vanilla cake for dessert. Delicious! It’s always so much fun watching the kids dance to the Athens band. Fun fact— they travel around the Southeast. Alex and I saw them in Charleston at their Greek Festival when we lived there. They also have a dance team from the church come out and perform and lots of vendors with Greek jewelry, dry goods, soaps and more in their bazaar! Since the weather is usually nice, we tend to stay outside, but they do have an indoor dining area that offers different food dishes like a veggie plate and moussaka. This is one of the best free events in Augusta and it’s definitely a must do on my list!
