Sunday Stroll in Downtown Augusta
Sometimes I feel like a broken record when I talk about how my husband and I have different work schedules. We don’t often have weekends off together so I cherish the times when we do. It may mean we push aside chores in favor of spending the afternoon together exploring our own hometown or doing the grocery shopping but it’s always worth it. Augusta has a new Groucho’s Deli downtown and we decided to check it out. To be honest, I’ve never been the biggest Groucho’s fan but I wanted to give it another shot and see how they transformed the building from a barber shop to a restaurant. I’m so glad we went! I ordered the Pink Moose and it was just what I wanted. The new space is roomy and I appreciated the attention to detail in the local art and news articles hanging on the wall. As an added bonus, there were lots of other young families with babies in strollers there on Sunday afternoon so we didn’t have to feel anxious if Rooney decided to cry instead of nap. Afterwards we went on a little walk further down Broad Street than our usual few blocks. It’s a shame people don’t utilize the median parks in front of the Imperial and Miller Theater but I’m hoping the revitalization of the area will result in an influx of people hanging out there. Augusta is still holding on to Christmas but I’m ready to embrace the new year.
