Our first stop in the city was Central Park. The weather was beautiful and we thought we'd walk from one end to the other. That didn't exactly happen, but we did make it to the ravine before heading back to our hotel. On the way back, we saw the Guggenheim museum which was much smaller and less impressive than I was anticipating. It drowned in a sea of skyscrapers. We also walked by The Met and spent some time on the steps watching the patterns of the water fountains. Before rounding the corner back to our hotel, we passed by The Plaza Hotel, one of the city's most recognized hotels. You may remember it from films like North by Northwest, Home Alone, Bride Wars, and the Great Gatsby or you may be more familiar with its most famous resident, Eloise! When we got back we were exhausted but it was time to plan for dinner and get ready for our first full day.
Central Park Highlights: Dairy Visitor's Center, The Great Lawn, Chess & Checkers House, Belvedere Castle (from afar), The Ramble, The Mall and Literary Walk, Loeb Boathouse, Sir Walter Scott Monument (not as impressive as the one in Edinburgh... because... Scotland), Terrace Bridge, Swedish Cottage and the 107th United State Infantry monument.
